Why Everything Matters

Everything matters, beginning with your first thoughts and breath in the morning. It is thought that creates, destroys, cheers up or brings down people, place and food.

It is our belief that the first breathe in the morning belongs to the great spirit and we face east in the morning to greet the new day giving thanks for the light, warmth and the opportunity that lies ahead. We are gifted new days to choose how we will spend the time we are given and to begin anew our behaviors, and take inventory of our past so we may choose our path for tomorrow.

It is the simplest thing to do, to put in our minds the smallest of things and thoughts that will drive our way of being for the day and that what we do today will drive our future. Thought is spirit that we manifest in the physical for it is our thoughts that help us choose our every step and action or reaction. So awaken and thing of good things, after all there are plenty of good things all around us. Unfortunately sometimes we never see them but they are there always waiting for us to wake up from the dream world.

The colors of the mountains, the colors and smells of flowers, the fact that we can breathe, the fact that we can grow food, the fact that there is light. All these things are good and we can fill our thoughts with these.

When we harvest, hunt, fish and grow food we focus on the sacred of the act. There is a spirit and history in everything on this planet. In our traditions we do not seperate the spirit in the animal from the spirit in the farmed or wild harvested foods (vegetables, fruits, etc…), all of it sacred and living and will help us and others live. Under every rock, clump of dirt there is life in the microorganisms that heal the soil and help the forest grow, brings birds to move and keep alive the forest, keeps feeds and heals the animals and hunting grounds.

Even when we cook our food, we should take time to think of those who taught us the ways, our elders, the traditions and histories, the love given to the land and the healing of place. We may not know where you are going or where you have been but if we share meal or food with you, we are sharing a sacred thoughtfull process of healing.

Every little thing Matters. So start with smallest of thoughts that will bring the biggest of change for our community.
